Another Great Design From Osprey
I already own an Osprey hiking pack, so it was great to see this high quality and intuitive design in this running hydration vest. Although my endurance activities have been mostly on wheels, I'm relatively new to running any sort of distance, but for the warmer temperatures here in Florida, hydration is essential. I wasn't thrilled about the idea of wearing a vest but this design keeps everything comfortable, light and secure around my shoulders and chest. It has adjustable position chest straps that really help dial in your fit. My only complaint is that I should have sized up as it does run a little small on me. I really liked the two flask holders that help to keep the setup balanced on your body and they both are designed with easy reach access without having to remove the entire flasks. The vest is loaded with other pockets and straps for extra storage of items, including a smaller pocket in the rear for additional hydration or an ice-pack if desired. Much like their backpacks, the inside of this vest features a breathable mesh that helps to wick away sweat. The material dries surprisingly fast, so the vest is ready to go again the next day especially when you hang it up. At $129.95, this is a somewhat higher priced running vest but with consideration to the design and quality that I've come to expect from Osprey, I feel like this still deserves five stars.

Staying properly hydrated is a critical part of training hard and I have found this vest to be an effective tool for the job. The Duro 1.5 is built for fast paced movement where keeping weight low is a top priority. I tested this during several long runs and high intensity cycling sessions to see how it handled the heat. The breathable mesh construction kept me from overheating even when I was pushing my limits in the afternoon sun. One of the biggest problems with hydration packs is the annoying bounce but the dual sternum straps keep everything locked in place. The two included five hundred milliliter soft flasks sit high on the chest for easy access without needing to stop or slow down. I really appreciate the stabilizer wings because they prevent the flasks from sliding around inside the pockets as they get emptier. The stretch pockets are strategically placed so I could grab a gel or a snack without having to fumble with any zippers. It feels very lightweight and the tailored fit ensures it moves with your body rather than against it. Even after hours of constant movement I did not experience any of the typical chafing around the neck or armpits. It is a very effective piece of gear for anyone who needs to carry fluids during a marathon or a trail race. The build quality is sturdy and it feels like a vest that will survive many seasons of heavy use. This pack delivers a comfortable and reliable experience for any athlete looking to stay hydrated during intense exercise.

TLDR: The green color is one of the coolest vest colors! I love the look of this and the material. This is a really nice bag with plenty of pockets for snacks and a nice little strap to hold trekking poles. I bought this for me and I honestly feel like this fits better than women’s cut, as it has extra room for large chested women! I would go with this one as a female who needs the extra space, otherwise you would probably be fine with the women’s cut. I also love the little flasks that come with it, as they are easy to fill and use. I would give five stars but I want to see how the little straps on the front hold up first, but so far so good!

I have never used this kind of vest before but had occasionally one of these fanny packs around my waist instead. So I can't compare this vest to other brands.

What I can say for sure: this is so much better than a fanny pack which keeps annoyingly bouncing up and down as I run. And Osprey paid attention to the details of preventing exactly that.

This vest has 6 pockets/pouches: on the back, a compartment with a diagonally running zipper and a large pouch. Both mostly suited for soft items which won't 'poke' you in the back. And then there are 4 mesh pouches around the waist, for keys, wallet, small snacks and things like that.

And of course there are 2 pouches for the flasks – each one with a capacity of half a liter (roughly 17 fluid ounces). They seem to be pretty puncture resistant and well made. They have what they call "WingStay stabilizer" in them. These 'plastic sticks' are simply there to make it easier to get the flask into the pouch. Nice little detail.

The padding is great even though you won't schlepp a lot of heavy stuff around – the filled water flasks are pretty light, IMHO. The vest without anything in/on it is barely noticeable on the body. Super lightweight. Two adjustable straps – in length (tightness) and where you want them across the chest (3 places for each, see image) – secure the vest on the body. It fits pretty well, at least for my size and body type.

Check out their video clips which show in detail what all the features of a specific backpack (or other gear) are. It is easy to miss a feature and I had some of these "Oh, if I'd only known…" moments. Of course, this vest is rather simple and most things are pretty obvious.

Osprey gear isn't cheap but very well worth the money (at least in my opinion). Everything is high quality and the functionally well thought through by folks who know what matters. They do much of this with recycled materials (in a variety of places and many gear) without compromising at all the quality and the looks of it.

If you need a little more storage, consider the 6L version.

Great running gear from a company I trust.

The Osprey Duro 1.5L Men's Running Hydration Vest for running is made with comfort in mind unlike other vests I’ve tried, The Osprey does not shift around on your body when running/walking/jogging. It conforms to the body nicely for a comfortable and secure fit all around. The hydration bottles are easily accessible and hold just enough water for my needs. As for the storage, a few protein bars, keys, wallet, and phone for nicely without adding too much bulk. The west is lightweight and breathable and the straps are well made. So far, no cons here.

If you’re training for longer runs like a half marathon, a hydration vest like this isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential. There’s simply no way to stay properly hydrated on longer runs unless you bring water with you, and this vest makes it incredibly easy.

This newer design is a big improvement over older models. I really like having the water bottles up front instead of relying only on a rear bladder. The two included soft flasks are a great size and super convenient—you can grab a drink without breaking your stride. They also feel more secure and balanced compared to older setups.

That said, it’s nice that the option for a rear bladder is still there. The back zip compartment fits up to a 1.5L reservoir if you want to carry more water for longer efforts, even though it’s not included.

Comfort-wise, this vest really shines. It fits snug without feeling restrictive, and once you get moving, it stays in place with very little bounce. The breathable material helps a lot during longer runs, especially when you’re putting in serious miles.

Storage is another big upgrade. There are plenty of pockets, and they’re actually usable. The front pockets hold gels and small items securely without things slipping out, which has been a problem for me with other vests. Everything feels well thought out and easy to access on the go.

Overall, this is a huge upgrade in both functionality and comfort. If you’re serious about running longer distances, this vest is absolutely worth it.

This is a very lightweight vest, with breathable stretchy mesh throughout. The two included soft flasks have an inner "WingStay" insert to make them easy to insert into the pockets, and an elastic cord to hold them securely in place. They sit high on the vest, so you can sip without taking them out of the pockets. Vest itself secures with two elastic straps, with several anchor points so you can find the ones to fit your size/shape. There are numerous stretch pockets for energy bars or snacks, a larger pocket on the back, and a zippered pouch in back that could hold a 1.5L bladder with hose. Also, there is a zippered pocket in front that can hold your cell phone (and a tethered emergency whistle included!). Very well designed to hold your hydration and and running needs securely, with no bouncing around.
